Fink wrote these songs circa 2003. The band played approximately 1 show per year, or less, for 5 years while Fink began his life out west as a National Parks ranger. We recorded the songs for posterity in 2007 at Permanent Hearing Damage in Philadelphia. After the songs nearly destroyed the arms of the talented painter/bassist, Ryan McLennan, Jay LaGreca played bass on the record and released the LP on his label, Molsook Records.
"Five tracks of long-form grunge-motion with Fink's screaming deep in the mix, mostly about the royal ass-kicking the Earth owes us. 'Summer hits like a goddamn shiner, and now I'm bleeding,' he bellows on the album-closing blowout "Oxbow," nearly 10 minutes of mathy riff-clatter, drum-thunder, and noise rock bass rumble for its own damn sake. Perfect for a town where 50 percent humidity without a drop of rain and temps in the mid-90's are not uncommon. Dunno what's in the water, but Richmond bands are able to make titration the hook and the heavy look weirdly effortless, when most contemporary metal bands spend most of their time sweating over just that. Here's what you do, hesher America: Just find every Richmond punk and metal album from the last 20 years and listen carefully. Start here."

"Once or twice a year, I have the pleasure of stumbling across an unexpected gem of a record that comes from so far out in left field that I'm both amazed and gracious for the opportunity to listen. This year's candidate for that title is Molsook Records' Food...Somewhere out there, there's a moldy, beer-soaked basement show where this type of music reigns supreme. And that feeling of pure, unadulterated release is exactly what Food captures on this record, properly embodying the allure of underground heavy music....for those listeners that love maximum distortion, heaping helpings of rumbling low end, and destructively powerful drumming, Food delivers...this record is a great find and proof that the DIY world of heavy music is still alive and well" -lambgoat dot com
